Born in Tokyo and both a Japanese-Italian citizen, Mina Yamazaki sprung herself onto the international opera scene performing at some of the most important theatres such as: Salzburg’s Grossenfestpielhaus, La Fenice in Venice, Rome’s Opera Theatre, the Lyrical Theatre in Cagliari, Puccini’s Festival in Torre del Lago, Tokyo’s New National Theatre, the Baths of Caracalla, Santander’s Palacio Festival in Spain, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, San Gallen’s Stadttheatre, Carlo Felice Theatre in Genova, Helsinki’s National Opera, Puccini’s Festival in Torre del Lago, Coccio theatre in Novara, Teatro Sociale in Mantova, Giglio Theatre in Lucca and the Baths of Caracalla in Rome.
She played Mascagni’s “Iris” at the Verdi Theatre in Pisa, Giglio Theatre in Lucca and the Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Theatre. She was La Traviata’s “Violetta” at the Seul Sejong Center and Rome’s Opera ( she was directed by Franco Zeffirelli). She played Pagliacci’s “Nedda” (dir. Zeffirelli) at the Rome’s Opera Theatre, Carmen’s “Micaela” at the Baths of Caracalla and then she was Falstaff’s “Alice” with Renato Brusoni.
She is considered one of the best performers for Madame Butterfly, a character that brought her big success, performing it on the international stages as at Salzburg’s Grossenfestpielhaus, Oslo Den Norske Opera, Rome’s Opera, Puccini’s Festival in Torre del Lago, Cipro’s theatre(touring with the Verdi Theatre), Pergolesi Theatre in Jesi, Lyrical Theatre in Cagliari, Helsinki’s National Opera, Mexico City Bellas Artes, Seul Sejong Center, V. Emanuele Theatre in Messina and several spanish theatres like Santander’s Palaciofestivalles and then in Jerez, San Sebastian, Cordoba and Madrid.
She will again Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste and at the Savonlinna Festival in Finland, Lyric Theatre of Cagliari.
